BlendAir Purifier
Design Brief
Design an air purifier in the style of the brand Melissa and Doug for a single mother on a date night.
The Product
An air purifier, also known as an air cleaner, is a device that removes contaminants from a room’s air to improve indoor air quality. An oil diffuser is a device that disperses essential oils into the air for a pleasant or calming effect by breaking them down into smaller molecules. With a water reservoir above the filter chamber, a heating coil, and an external cup that is connected to the reservoir as a scent holder, the BlenderAir Purifier functions as both an air purifier and an oil diffuser. It was created specifically for a user who has an affinity in strange things; it was modeled after a toy blender and was influenced by Melissa and Doug toys. Since BlendAir was designed for a specific group of single mothers with iffy senses of humor, the name was also intended to emphasize a “mom joke” and to highlight the idea of it being a blend of an air purifier and an oil diffuser.
Brand Analysis
Melissa & Doug, LLC is an American manufacturer of children’s toys, including wooden puzzles, arts & crafts products, plush toys, and other educational toys. The company was founded in 1988 by Melissa and Doug Bernstein in their basement and in Doug’s parents’ garage.
Persona
Fiona is a 27-year-old interior/set designer living in Seattle, WA. She is a single mother who is looking for someone fun and spontaneous. She’s been single for a while and has only recently decided to resume dating. She has a soft spot in her heart for all things strange and ugly, and she collects antiques and traditional vintage items. Her creative outlets are music and poetry; she occasionally performs her poetry and plays the ukulele in small coffee shops. Her idea of adventure is anything spontaneous, particularly jumping off a cliff. She adores and enjoys the joys of motherhood while also maintaining her hobbies.
